Fred is a dog. Er…was a dog. Two dogs, actually. Fred I was a mutt with some Labrador and some Golden retriever, among others. He passed away in 2002, just when Fred’s Beds was opening at the Old Matt Schoolhouse. A few weeks after Fred I passed, Fred II showed up on the doorstep of the store and we knew it was meant to be! Fred II was a mix between a Pit Bull, Dachshund, Jack Russell and Chihuahua….we think. Fred II passed away in 2013 ☹.

Fred’s Beds sources its mattresses through a nationwide network of discounted closeouts, factory over-runs, liquidations, mix & match, and lightly distressed models.

As the largest “As-Is” mattress dealer in the southeast, Fred’s Beds is able to get premium, brand name mattresses at heavily discounted, close-out prices. We pass the savings on to our customers!

Fred’s Beds close-out mattresses do not carry the manufacturer’s warranty. Fred’s Beds does provide a 90-day quality guarantee; if the mattress has any issue within the first 90 days we will replace it with no questions asked.

At such discounted prices, Fred’s Beds is unable to offer a comfort guarantee. We encourage our customers to spend as much time as they need in our store trying the beds before making a purchase.

Original memory foam mattresses were notorious for getting hot during sleep. The closed cell technology of the older memory foam mattresses made the mattress denser and heavier, but it also retained heat and would often cause the sleeper to sweat. The newer versions of memory foam mattresses use open cell technology which is lighter and less dense than many of the older models are more breathable and allow better air flow. Many new beds also infuse the memory foam with cooling gels or phase changing materials that can draw heat away from the body and keep the sleeper cooler.

Due to the already low prices offered, Fred’s Beds does not hold holiday or sales events.
