Is It Time for a New Mattress?

You didn’t sleep well last night, and you’ve finally decided that the problem is your mattress. Maybe your mattress is more than eight years old, or maybe you’ve noticed that it sags a little in the middle; or maybe your mattress has never really suited your sleeping style. The key to a better night’s sleep is the right mattress! Which one is right for you? We’ve put together a list of some of the most common mattress types to help you decide.

Adjustable Beds (adjustable mattresses and bed bases)

Adjustable beds are becoming one of fastest growing requests for sleepers. Offering several flexible options from firmness levels to support angles, these beds are great for sleepers with medical issues. In addition, those who just want a more individualized, comfortable relaxation option are finding adjustable beds the perfect fit for rooms with limited space. Allowing for position adjustments sleepers can raise the foot, head or back areas to offer extended support. Adjustable bases and mattresses are sold separately. Customers choose between 3 styles of base with varying features, and then choose the mattresses.

Gel Mattress

Gel, or smart gel, mattresses are known for their ability to keep you cool as you sleep unlike their all foam counterparts. Gel is used in conjunction with memory foam, the gel is normally used in the support system layer of the mattress.

Hybrid Innerspring - Foam Mattress

Hybrids are the best of two words. Combining an innerspring care with a memory foam outer layer, this combination mattress offers comfort and durability. Offering several benefits to sleepers this mattress is especially comfortable to the restless sleeper due to its ability to have less motion transfer.

Innerspring

The traditional innerspring or coil mattress has been the leader for many years due to its appeal to a wide range of sleepers. The quality of this mattress usually depends on the number, shape and coil gauge of the springs used within. While higher-end innerspring mattresses can offer much comfort and good designs, less expensive brands can have faults like poor shape control to coils puncturing through the top on older mattresses.

Latex Mattress

A latex mattress use latex foam opposed to memory foam. Latex mattresses are often made from all natural sources. Offering a variety of firmness options, latex mattresses are less dense, meaning they offer a cooler sleep than their memory foam counterparts. These mattresses are a good fit for most sleeping styles.

Memory Foam

If you are looking for a great support and comfort, especially as a side sleeper, memory foam is a wonderful choice. Memory foam is popular because of the way it gradually conforms to your body as you sleep. If you sleep on your side, it offers the shoulder and hip support you need. The memory foam contours to your body and allows you to feel partially surrounded by the mattress while being supported. Another great perk, memory foam is designed in layers meaning it tends to hold its shape which equals no need to flip the mattress due to sagging.

Pillow Tops

Pillow top mattresses use a quilted, top pillow layer for additional cushioning for the body on top of a traditional coil or innerspring mattress. These can be a great fit for sleepers with hip issues that don’t like the feel of a foam mattress. There is some flexibility in choosing pillow top softness.
